Last Capital Adventure | Photo Diary

I have officially moved home!

My cousin, his girlfriend, and my brother all came down to Ottawa on Friday and spent my last weekend there along-side me. We packed up all my stuff into a U-Haul and drove 11 hours home on Sunday.

During our weekend in the Capital we had such a blast!

Friday night we went to Bayshore mall to go shopping. Despite all of us being adults, we all built a stuffed animal at Build-A-Bear! We ended up with two Minions, a Dragon and a CareBear. After we got home Friday night we laughed our butts off playing Cards Against Humanity.

Saturday was a busy day! In the morning we went to the Museum of Aviation and Space, in the afternoon we went to the Canadian War Museum, and after dinner we went to glow in the dark mini putt at Putting Edge!

Of course I took a bunch of pictures haha, so here are some of them!

I hope you enjoyed looking through this little photo gallery. We had an absolute blast this past weekend! If you're ever in Ottawa I highly recommend visiting all these places.

Have you ever been to Ottawa? What did you do?

Where do you live? What places do you like to visit there?

45. What You Do For Fun & 46. Technology | 52 Weeks of Gratitude Challenge

45. What You Do For Fun
I am my happiest outdoors. There's something about being outside in nature that is really enjoyable to me! For fun on a daily basis I love to go for walks and explore new areas around me. In winter I really love snow machining, snow shoeing, ice fishing, and cross country skiing. In the summer I enjoy hiking, fishing, outdoor yoga, going to the beach, and of course, mini putt! I'm always up for exploring new places and going on photo missions. When I'm outside, no matter what I'm doing, I'm at my happiest.
46. Technology
It sounds shallow to say this, but I rely on technology so much. I couldn't go a day without some sort of technology. From the refrigerator and oven, to my phone and laptop- technology is everywhere around me and I'm so grateful for it. I'm especially grateful for the advancements in digital imaging software and DSLRs as I'm trying to make a career for myself as a photographer. Without technology we'd still all be living like cave people... I don't know about you but that doesn't sound appealing to me haha.

What do you do for fun? Please let me know in a comment! I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday and are able to get outside today!

Exploring Ottawa: Hogs Back Park | Adventure Time

Now that I'm living in Ottawa I'm really enjoying exploring all the new places around me. This little gem of a park is called Hog's Back Park. It's about a 20 minute walk from my apartment to this bit of paradise.
The waterfalls in this area are created by the dam that separates this area from Mooney's Bay- the beginning of the Ottawa Canal. The fast moving water is so gorgeous against the stillness of the rocks and trees. If you're able to catch the light just right through the waterfall spray you can see a rainbow.
My friend Paul from back home has been my rock here. We've been spending so much time together and he's really been helping me through this transition of leaving home and dealing with homesickness.

He came with me to the park and, of course, my inner photographer escaped me and I made him participate in an impromptu photo shoot.
This is one of those places that you just have to take in slowly. Paul and I barely spoke walking through here because we were so amazed by the beauty that we were engulfed in. The world we live in is absolutely beautiful!
I feel like the shots people don't realize your taking end up being some of the best. I really love these shots of Paul; very GQ-esque I do believe!
While walking across the rocks, we stumbled upon this beautiful proposal and were just so awe-struck. This sentiment is so beautiful- his proposal will be there forever and they will always be able to go back and see this for the rest of their lives.
This park is so stunning- I know it will be a place I revisit often. I feel so inspired here. I just want to take tonnes of photos and write my heart out! It's little treasures like this that refuel me. It's such a perfect piece of unedited land and I love it's authenticity.

I hope you enjoyed this post, if you know of any places in Ottawa I should explore do let me know! Where do you like to explore- do you prefer urban or rural places to have an adventure?

Lazy Monday, Baby Time + OOTD | Adventure Time

I had a short shift last Monday and so had a lot of free time to just enjoy the sunshine and have a lazy day. I started the day off by painting my nails with Essie's Penny Talk- which I'm LOVING- whilst watching Roman Holiday. Since it was Monday I decided I would seize the opportunity to wear my loungy MUNDAY top from Sheinside. I paired it with my favourite Jeans from Forever 21, my DLG slip-ons and my NineWest purse. My shirt and shoes are both featured in my last haul!
I felt the need to put a little appreciation photo of this purse since 1. it's gorgeous and 2. I'm absolutely smitten with it. It's an authentic NineWest purse that I got from Winners. I only had to pay a third of the price I would have if I bought it direct from NineWest! I love that it can literally go with anything- it can be dressed up and dressed down. The crocodile/snake skin print on it isn't something I'd normally go for, but on this bag I really love it and I think it works.
I'm a big fan of walking; I walk almost every day. I typically walk for fitness, doing 5km and usually ending up in a run. It seems as soon as I have my workout clothes and Nike trainers on I immediately have tonnes of energy! Instead of walking for fitness, I decided to take in my surroundings and walk for peace. I loved the way the street signs looked against the sky! I also noticed some paint on the side walk that I know for a fact has been there for ages but is something I've never really taken the time to actually look at.
I walked by this house with the most beautiful gardens! It is the type of house I can only dream of one day living in- farm style with a big wrap around porch. It turns out that it's up for sale right now, naturally, years before I can even THINK about buying a home.
I finished off my lovely evening by visiting my cousin and her son Tate. I love this kid! He's just over a year now, learning to walk and babbling away. It was so nice to see him- I've been cherishing every moment with him because at his age he's learning, growing and changing so much and so quickly! I just know that he's going to be so grown and changed by the time I come home for Christmas Break!
I love having a good lazy day. I think it's so important to take time for yourself and for the people you love to enjoy life and make memories. I know that my life will most likely span at least 70 years, but my first 20 have already flown by so quickly that I really want to appreciate and enjoy every day that I have left.

I hope you enjoyed seeing what I got up to on my loungy Monday. What do you like to do on a lazy day? Please do let me know!
